Lynqo
Advanced Surgical Instrument Management
Lynqo offers an advanced solution for surgical instrument management. It incorporates AI-powered tracking and modular hardware to enhance surgical workflow efficiency. Operating as a circular Product-as-a-Service model, Lynqo contributes to reducing errors, decreasing operational costs, and minimizing environmental impact.
Challenges in Modern Hospitals
Annually, hospitals experience a loss of up to 10% of their surgical instruments due to workflow inefficiencies between the Operating Room (OR) and the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD). This issue leads to a range of complications:
  • Incomplete instrument sets, causing surgical delays
  • Unnecessary re-sterilization processes, increasing costs
  • Significant material waste, impacting sustainability goals
  • Increased workload for medical staff
Simultaneously, hospitals face increasing regulatory pressure from the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) to accurately trace each instrument.
Lynqo's Solution
Lynqo develops a circular scanning system designed to manage the lifecycle of surgical instruments. This system integrates advanced hardware with AI technology to provide end-to-end traceability.
AI-Assisted Inventory Verification
Automated inventory and tracking of surgical instrument sets with high precision, aiming to reduce human errors.
MDR-Compliant Individual Tracking
Precise traceability of individual instruments between the Operating Room (OR) and Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), ensuring compliance with the European Medical Device Regulation.
Sustainability Contribution
Aims to reduce energy, water, and packaging waste by preventing unnecessary sterilization cycles, supporting the hospital's environmental goals.
Circular Product-as-a-Service Model
Features a modular design intended to extend device lifespan and enable component reuse, offered through a flexible Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) model without requiring large upfront investments.
Collaboration
This collaboration is funded by Vlaanderen Circulair under the Design4Circularity program Lynqo. The project integrates the expertise of three distinct partners, each with specialized contributions, to develop a solution that addresses the complex requirements of healthcare.
